OVER 36,500 premium bonds prizes worth over £1.5 million remain unclaimed in Wales.

National Savings and Investments (NS&I) are calling for premium bonds holders to come forward to claim their prizes and to sign-up to their have their winnings paid into their bank accounts.

Premium bonds prize warrants can go undelivered and unclaimed as a result of changes in premium bonds holders’ addresses. Indeed, if bonds were bought for prize holders as a child, they may also have lost track of them.

Almost a third of the UK population have invested over £51 billion in premium bonds, and every eligible bond is entered into the monthly prize draw. Investors forgo interest to have the chance to win tax-free prizes.

Jill Waters, NS&Is assistant director, said: “Prizes often become unclaimed as a result of people moving house, or forgetting that bonds have been bought for them as a child, or executors are unaware the bonds are held when someone dies.”
