TWO vehicles have been involved in a crash in Crumlin.

The incident took place at Pen y fan Industrial Estate in Crumlin just before 9am this morning.

Two people were injured, one in each car. The driver of one vehicle, a woman, 21, has been taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital. Her injuries are not yet known.

The driver of the other vehicle, a man, 29, has been taken to Nevill Hall Hospital. A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said that his injuries are minor.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said:

“We were called at 9am this morning to reports of a road traffic collision at Pen y fan Industrial Estate in Crumlin, Newport. We responded with a rapid response vehicle, two emergency ambulances and a doctor.

“Two casualties were conveyed to hospital, one to the Royal Gwent Hospital and one to Nevill Hall Hospital.”

Fire rescue crews from Aberbargoed and Ebbw Vale crews attended after being called shortly after 9am.

They issued a stop message at 10am.

Gwent Police said no arrests had been made in connection with the incident.

Gwent Police have said that none of the injuries sustained in the crash are considered "life threatening", although both casualties are said to be in a serious condition.

The road was reopened at 12.30pm."
