MORE than 320 children received gifts this year, thanks to Torfaen council’s Santa appeal.
This is the ninth year Torfaen council has run the appeal, which helps young people in Torfaen who are experiencing poverty and have no contact with their families.
The executive member for health, social care and well-being, councillor Richard Clark, said: “We are delighted we received so many gifts for children ranging from new born to 16 years of age. We know they will be over joyed to have opened these on Christmas Day.
“I would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s appeal such a success.
“Our Santa appeal is a wonderful cause, helping to make Christmas special for children who otherwise would not receive a present on Christmas Day.
“Yet again, we have been bowled over by how generous residents and businesses in the borough have been and I wish to extend a massive thank you to them.”
