GRASS roots organisations, health sector workers and trade union members are set to protest outside the Conservative Party gala dinner in Cardiff later today.

Protestors will be calling upon David Cameron to apologise for his 'treatment of Wales during this parliament' and for his 'repeated attacks on the Welsh NHS'.

Speaking ahead of the rally George Puckett, health sector worker said: “Health workers in Wales have been enraged by Camerons cynical attempts to deride the Welsh NHS and in particular his comment that Offas Dyke was 'the line between life and death'.

"NHS staff in Wales provide vital professional care to thousands of patients every day. Camerons words area kick in the teeth and insulting to them and the dedicated service they provide. He needs to do the decent thing and apologise."

Adam Johannes Unite community activist added: "Wales still hasn't recovered from the last Tory government and this one has renewed its attacks on the poor and vulnerable. Food banks are in massive demand across the whole of Wales with parents regularly skipping meals to put food on the table for their kids. Wales has also been hit hardest by the bedroom tax with 40,000 households told to find extra money from nowhere, move to smaller properties that don't exist - or face eviction. How can we accept the authors of these crimes meeting in our city without a protest?"

The protest is set to take plac from 5.45pm at the Mercure Hotel on Newport Road, Cardiff.
