A CONCERT to raise awareness of Toxic Shock Syndrome took place on the birthday of a Caerwent teenager who died from the condition.

Around 260 people attended the gala concert at Newport Centre on Thursday evening which was the last event in the 13 days of awareness campaign organised by the family of Natasha Scott-Falber. Natasha was 14-years-old when she died on February 14, 2013, after suffering from TSS caused by her first use of a tampon.

Natasha's mother Mandy Scott and her brother Daniel Falber, 19, sang a duet 'Who will love me as I am' from the musical Side Show. The family wrote a song in memory of the musical teenager called 'We will remember her smile' which they performed on stage at the gala.

Mrs Scott, Natasha's mother, said: "It was such a wonderful night. A lot of people who have helped us campaign in the last 13 days were there and it was nice to share the evening with them.

"Without a doubt thousands of people have been reached in the campaign. It has been an amazing 13 days - we wanted to get the symptoms out there.

“This must not happen to anyone else."

There were performances from 14 members of WAWWA Musical Theatre Company based in Cwmbran who sang 'Season of Love' from the musical Rent and 'Let it Go' from the Disney hit film Frozen.

The Wyedean Gospel Choir also performed and sang 'He lives in you' from the Lion King which was one of Tasha's favourites and the second half of the concert saw performances from the Wurzels.
