MONMOUTHSHIRE chefs will be demonstrating their culinary skills at the first ever Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls food festival on Saturday.
There will be local producers at the festival with a range of speciality foods, including honey, chocolate, sausages and fine wines. It will also feature a series of demonstrations by local chefs including Michelin Star-trained Simon King from Restaurant 1861 in Abergavenny.
Wendy Rist, chairman of Friends of HMSG who organised the event, said: “The Monmouth area has a wealth of excellent food and drink producers.
“We saw this as an opportunity for the girls, parents and staff to enjoy an occasion together and to strengthen links with the local community.”
Ms Rist hopes the festival will become an annual event. The festival runs from 10am to 4pm and starts with a demonstration by Mr King at 10.30am.
Steve Robbins from Bistro Prego, Monmouth, will be showcasing Mediterranean cuisines at 11.30am. At 12.30pm Claire Alzheyrey from Moko’s in Monmouth will exhibit the flavours of Mexico followed by bread baking and cake decorating at 1.30pm.
Entry is free. For more information, visit hmsg.co.uk and follow the school on Twitter @habsmonmouth
