A 33-YEAR-OLD woman from the Crumlin area died after her car plunged over the edge of a quarry.
Police and fire officers were called to the quarry off Swffryd Road, Swffyrd, Crumlin at 8.50am.
The incident involved one vehicle and police said the local woman driving was killed in the accident.
A specialist line rescue crew from Malpas and fire crews from Abercarn, Ebbw Vale and Pontypridd all attended and were still working at 10.30am to recover the vehicle and the woman's body.
A police spokeswoman said: "A full investigation will be taking place into the incident."
