CALL centre employers Yell will start recruiting for 100 jobs in Newport on Monday 19th.

The directories business announced in January it was to create a call centre in Newport to expand its 118 24 7 service.

The centre will be based in Usk House, a new £3.5million office development on the city's 4.6 acre George Street site.

It is due to start operations in April and could bring more than 250 jobs to the city over the next four years.

The first 100 of those should be appointed within the next six months.

The company has received a regional selective assistance grant of up to £910,000 from the Welsh Assembly Government and support from the Assembly's International Business Wales team The first full-time and flexi-time jobs will be advertised from next week.

Applicants will be able to register their interest from February 19 at www.118247.com, beginnning an online selection process. A face-to-face interview follows this, then possible selection and training.

The new call centre in Newport will expand Yell's award-winning Yellow Pages 118 24 7 service.
