CORRIE FROM THE INSIDE: Members waited in anticipation for local television scriptwriter Joe Turner to begin his talk. Firstly, business matters and forthcoming events were dealt with.

For 2007 there is an exciting and varied programme, including walks, a quiz night and a visit to Waddeston Manor, to mention a few.

Joe then began by explaining how Coronation Street, the soap he regularly writes for, is planned, scripted and produced.

Even those members who are not Corrie' fans found the insight into scriptwriting fascinating.

Without giving too many secrets away Joe answered all our questions, which ended a most entertaining evening.

Our next meeting is at the Mardy Village Hall, on March 1, at 1.15pm, when Ian Rabjohns will tell us about bats. Why not join us? You will be most welcome.
