NEWPORT County boss Jimmy Dack insists he won’t complain about injuries however bad they get and still expects to be able to pick Robbie Willmott this season, writes Michael Pearlman.

The Exiles revealed Willmott has a thigh muscle tear this week, as well as losing Ryan Jackson and Joe Day to injury at Accrington last weekend.

However, Dack is far from feeling sorry for himself.

“We have got a small squad but that pulls us closer together, we won’t moan about our injuries,” he said.

“Joe Day and Ryan Jackson trained on Thursday and we’ll just have to see if they are fit for Friday, we won’t risk them, but if they tell me they are fit, that’ll be good enough for me.

“Robbie Willmott, personally I think we’ll see him again before the end of the season. He’s had a scan with one of our doctors and he’s got a grade two tear in his thigh.

“He’s frustrated and trying to get back, doing everything he can because he wants to be part of the run-in and the play-offs if we get there. But the body tells you when you are ready.

“I can’t be worrying about injuries. You’ve just got to get on with it as its part and parcel of football.

When we put our squad together we need players who can be a bit flexible and move around the park.

“Yan Klukowski is an ideal example of that, he’s doing a fantastic job for this football club. I doubt he’s too happy about it, but sometimes that’s just the way it is and I personally think it makes you a better player, more aware and appreciative of what others are doing in different roles in the side.”
