CHARITY fundraisers walked for five miles along the banks of the river Usk in Newport to raise cash for patients suffering from kidney failure.
Around 40 people joined the Kidney Wales Foundation Walk for Life from the iconic Transporter Bridge today [April 26].
They took between one and half to two hours to complete the charity walk raising hundreds of pounds in the process.
The Kidney Wales Foundation hopes that more than £1,000 will have been collected in Newport.
Similar Walks for Life took place today across Wales. Others were held yesterday, including one from Sessions House in Usk, started by the mayor Roger Galletley.
Newport walk organiser Maureen Hendon set off with a group of walkers and her dog Snowy this morning.
The group crossed over the bridge before walking along Corporation Road, the SDR and down the footbridge in the city centre then back to the Transporter Bridge.
Mrs Hendon, 53, said: “I am pleased with the turnout. It’s brilliant.”
Charity head of finance Lorraine Davis added: “They are raising money to support kidney patients all over Wales.
“Maureen has had four transplants. She has done so well for the patients.”
