A MISCONDUCT hearing for an Abergavenny doctor who is alleged to have failed to notify the General Medical Council (GMC) about a previous assault conviction began today.
The hearing, led by the Fitness to Practise Panel, will spend the next 10 days considering the case of Dr Deepanker Nandy Majumdar at the headquarters of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service in Manchester.
It centres on an allegation that on February 23, 2014, Dr Majumdar was convicted of an assault on a representative of public authority in Barcelona in Spain.
He was sentenced to eight months imprisonment, suspended for two years, and ordered to pay a fine of €80 for the offence.
It is alleged that Dr Majumdar failed to notify the GMC about his conviction.
The hearing will continue on Monday.
Proceeding.
