PREMIER League manager and Newport-born Tony Pulis has so far raised more than £6,000 as he attempts an epic journey from London’s Tower Bridge to the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

West Bromwich Albion boss Pulis started the journey on Monday as part of a 24-strong team. Less than 100 people have completed the Tower to Tower challenge.

Pulis is raising money for Donna Louise Children’s Hospice based in Stoke, where he used to manage, and his fundraising amount - as the Argus went to press - stood at £6,176.20. The team will be attempting to cross the English Channel from today.

He says on his Just Giving page: “I am part of a team that will be rowing 450 nautical miles from Tower Bridge in London to the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

“It will take us six days and six nights with very little sleep and I'll be totally out of my comfort zone. The biggest thing I'm worried about is the lack of sleep. I'm a good sleeper, so if I don't get enough sleep, it may be difficult to function.

“It's sure to be the toughest challenge I've ever done for the Donna Louise Children's Hospice, but when they asked me, I couldn't say no! The Hospice is a charity very close to my heart, and no matter where in the world I end up, or what I may be doing, I will always do what I can to support them!

“I want to raise as much money as I can to help them look after children with life-threatening conditions and their families. They need to raise £2.5 million a year to keep their doors open, so please help me to make a big difference by donating to my page.”
