TWO people have been fined for littering and dog fouling offences within Caerphilly county borough.
Chanelle Evans, of Somerton Road in Newport, appeared at Newport Magistrates Court on June 26 for discarding litter at Bargoed Bus Station. Evans was found guilty of littering under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 Sections 87 and 88 and was issued with £75 fine and ordered to pay £50 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
Gareth Davies, of Aneurin Bevan Avenue in Gelligaer, was also charged with a dog fouling offence which took place in December 2014 in Heol Edward Lewis, Gelligaer.
After failing to attend the hearing, the matter was proved in his absence and he was found guilty of breaching the provisions of the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 Section. Davies was ordered to pay a £75 fine in addition to £120 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
Cllr Nigel George, cabinet member for community and leisure services, said: “The Enforcement Team play a key role in ensuring our communities promote a clean and safe environment for residents.
“I hope the latest prosecutions send a clear message that we will take legal action where required and hold individuals accountable for their actions.”
