A TRIBUTE album made by friends of a much-loved Chepstow landlady who died last year has helped to raise £7,000 for charity.

Keen musician Alison Beasley ran The White Lion/Pye Corner, grew up in Bulwark and attended Chepstow School.

Ms Beasley was cared for by St David’s Hospice Care prior to her death from cancer, aged 53.

Friends formed the Electric Landlady fundraising group in her memory to raise funds for St David’s Hospice Care.

Around 50 friends and musician recorded original songs in her friend Paul Hobday’s home recording studio in Chepstow and called it The Electric Landlady album. One song was donated by another of Ms Beasley’s friends, Yes and Asia keyboardist Geoff Downes.

Other fundraisers included a special jam night at the Pye Corner pub in October which raised over £2,300 and at The Severn Bridge Club.

Friend Lucy Fear, of Chepstow, said: “We’re all absolutely thrilled that we were able to make the album and to have raised such a brilliant amount of money for St David’s Hospice Care in Alison’s memory.”

Tania Ansell, of St David’s Hospice Care, who received the £7,000 raised on behalf of the charity, said: “The money raised by the Electric landlady Group is a huge testament to Alison’s memory. We are extremely grateful to the group for raising this fantastic amount of money which will be put to very good use in helping us to provide our vital services within the community.”
