RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after a cat was dumped inside a taped a box in a bush in Newport.

The ginger male cat was found taped up inside a litter box outside the Pet’s At Home car park at Mendalgief Retail Park, Docks Way on Monday, August 31.

RSPCA deputy chief inspector Emma Smith said: “This poor cat was taped inside this box for an unknown period of time. He must have been very frightened and who knows what would have happened to him had he not been found as he could not have escaped from the box by himself.

“He doesn’t have a microchip or collar so we can’t identify his owner - but it appears he has been abandoned.”

The cat has been taken to a veterinary surgery for examination.

“We are appealing for anyone with information about this cat to contact the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018,” added DCI Smith. “Calls are treated in confidence.”
