THE boss of a Nantyglo waste company has pleaded guilty to breaching an environmental permit and will be sentenced next month.

Adrian Lewis, director of A. Lewis Waste Management and Skiphire Ltd, had been charged with breaching an environmental permit between October 9, 2013 and October 15, 2014.

Lewis, aged 43, of Wann-Ebbw Road, Nantyglo pleaded guilty to all eight counts against him at Newport Crown Court yesterday (Tue).

The eight counts are broken down as follows: five counts of failing to comply with the requirements of an environmental permit conditions; and three counts of deposition without a licence of controlled waste on land.

At his initial plea hearing on February 27, Lewis had pleaded not guilty to two counts: a failure to ensure waste on the site complied with permitted limits; and a failure to comply with an enforcement notice.

Lewis has now pleaded guilty to all charges against him.

Judge Daniel Williams QC granted Lewis bail and he will be sentenced on Friday October 2.
