FORMER Coronation Street stars Steven Arnold and Andy Whyment slipped back into their roles as butchers for the day yesterday.

The popular stars, whose characters Kirk and Ashley were butchers in the long-running soap Coronation Street, were mobbed by shoppers in the outdoor market on the Brewery Yard as they served meat to customers of D & M Meats.

The duo’s appearance attracted hundreds to the stall which visits the market every Tuesday.

The Worcester-based business was celebrating its 25th anniversary and rolled back the years to the 90’s prices selling chicken portions, angus steaks and lamb legs amongst its products.

One of its directors, Mike Jacob said the stars got stuck into serving customers and posed for photo’s with excited customers.

Mr Jacob, 40, said: “It was quite chaotic but there was a great atmosphere and it brought hundreds to the market.”

“Andy and Steven were great, interacting with the public and were really down-to-earth.”

“It helped to raise the profile of the market and brought new people in.”
