TWO men are in hospital after a car crash in Aberbeeg.

The accident took place at 9.56am on Cwm Road between a Ford Fiesta and a VW Golf. Both drivers were male and both sustained injuries in the crash.

They were treated at the scene for serious injuries before the driver of the Ford Fiesta was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and the driver of the VW Golf was taken to Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.

The road has been closed for most of the day but is due to be re-opened shortly.

There is queuing traffic in both directions between Aberbeeg and Cwm because of accident investigation work.

The cars were recovered at 3.20pm today.

A Welsh Ambulance service spokeswoman said they were called at around 10am to an accident near to the roundabout in Aberbeeg.  They responded with three rapid response vehicles, two emergency ambulances.

A Basics Doctor, PHEM (Pre Hospital Emergency Medicine) doctor and EMRTS (Emergency Medical Retrieval Transfer Service) also attended the scene.
