UPDATE: 10pm

A NEWPORT transport company released a Star Wars themed video earlier today to commemorate the return of the cult sci-fi saga.

Newport Bus released the video in conjunction with Pop Box Media, showing a bumbling Darth Vader attempting to find a bus to the Death Star.

As the Sith lord gets his first taste of public transport he interacts with the passengers, attempts to force choke the bus driver and learns a few lessons about parenting from elderly commuters.

Scott Pearson, managing director of Newport Transport, views the video as a response to service-users who have been talking about the new Star Wars film.

He said: “We have a fantastic relationship with our customers and it's always fun to get them involved with the work we do to promote the many services we operate.

“We thought it would be fun if we invited someone a little different to join them on their journeys —Darth Vader and one of his storm troopers.”

The film was made by Noel Davies, managing director of Pop Box Media, who aimed to use Star Wars to demonstrate "how catching the bus can be fun.”

He said: “Newport Bus offers lots of affordable services and technology like smartcards to use its buses.

“The film is a fun way of introducing these things to people who may not have thought about using the bus before.

“We know that Darth Vader does, though he didn't seem too impressed that Newport Bus doesn't go to the Death Star.”

Newport Bus has also confirmed that intergalactic bus services will be considered in the future if there is enough public demand.

Mr Pearson added: “We try to provide as many services as possible that our customers want so if there's a demand to go to the Death Star I guess we'll have to look into it."
