AN ELDERLY horse was found fallen in a field near Pontypool, prompting fire crews from New Inn and Merthyr Tydfil to come to its aid.
The animal, located in a field of Hanbury Road, Pontnewynydd, required lifting gear to bring it to safety at just before 2.45pm on Saturday.
The South Wales Fire Service has confirmed that a vet was contacted to check the ageing horse’s health.
