UPDATE: 12.23pm

A neighbour told of their terror as they saw flames shooting from the house next door this morning.

The fire was at 137 Lasgarn View, the house shared by Steve Tynswell, his mother Irene and another resident.

They were all taken to Nevill Hall hospital.

Neighbour William John Gunter, 61, said: “It was so terribly frightening, looking out I could see flames shooting out from next door’s rear window and we grabbed our dressing gowns and left.

He said by the time we were outside Mr Tynswell was on the floor, badly injured.

“Steve usually has his windows open and it’s lucky he did as it could have been so much worse.”

His wife Pamela, 60, said: “My husband woke me up in the middle of the night telling me there was a fire next door.

“I thought he was joking when he said ‘quick Pam, there’s a fire next door’. The smoke went onto our roof and our upstairs stunk earlier.”

Margaret Lewis of 135, said: “My son woke me up at 2am and I noticed the sirens before I saw the fire, the smoke was heavy until well gone 3.”
