WORLD boxing champion Joe Calzaghe says he may go to Hollywood and take up acting when he hangs up his gloves.

The 35-year-old super middle-weight champion from Newbridge was in Newport on Thursday promoting his top-five best selling autobiography, No Ordinary Joe.

He said: "I started boxing twenty five years ago so I thought it was a good time to bring out a book and tell people my story. Until I started writing it, I didn't realise how long I had been around, but it's made me proud of what I've achieved."

And he says he still has a lot to give the boxing world. "I'm quite old for a boxer, but I'm like a fine wine - I get better with age!

"I'm still at my peak. I've got a massive fight in September and I'm really looking forward to it."

He says staying at home in Newbridge with his family - including trainer and dad Enzo - has kept him grounded.

"I wouldn't be tempted to move away because my boys live here and are still young.

"Plus it keeps you grounded, living in the same place you've always lived. Boxing is a really hard sport and I can't be bothered with all the celebrity stuff. I've got plenty of time to do all that.

"My aim at the moment is to go down in history as one of the undefeated fighters."

But after that, the bright lights of Hollywood might beckon. He added: "Who knows what I'll do after I've retired? I might go into TV work and I might even go to Hollywood and take on an acting career!

But I love boxing and I'll always be involved in it. I won't walk away because it's a great sport."
