TWO cars have been involved in a crash on Cardiff Road.
Police and ambulances are at the scene and one person has been taken to hospital, the ambulance service said.
The incident has occurred at the junction with Belle Vue Lane, near the Royal Gwent. Police and ambulances are at the scene.
Newport Bus tweeted to say: "All traffic outbound being diverted via Mendalgeif Rd. Inbound unaffected."
At 6.40pm Newport Bus tweeted to say the road has now reopened and services are back to normal.

Gnanathevarajah Thevathas owns the shop Luxton's opposite where the crash happened.
He said: "I was sleeping upstairs when I heard the noise of the smash. My wife rang me from downstairs and I came out.
"I don't know which way the cars were coming."
