FUNDRAISERS will be riding over 50 miles in memory of a Newport girl who died after an asthma attack.

Ellie-May Clark was only five-years-old when she passed away after a major asthma attack in January 2015.

In her memory, friends and family have decided to ride from Brecon Beacons to Seawall tearooms in Newport and will raise money for Asthma UK.

Ellie-May’s relative Jerry Secker said the whole family decided to fundraise for the charity after they had got over the shock of losing her.

He said: “It was a massive shock to the family, friends and local community, it feels like you've lost a huge part of your life and it's something you'll never get over.

“This is something no parent should ever have to experience and Shanice and Luke have been braver than I could ever have been.”

15 riders will be taking part in the event this Saturday (April 30), including Ellie-May’s step-father, step-grandfather and other family members and friends.

He added: “We have riders of all ages and capabilities so chose a distance that would challenge us but not over stretch anyone.

“The day is about remembering Ellie and enjoying a ride.”

They will travel through Malpas, where Ellie was from, and will go past her old school, Malpas Court, where a memorial garden was built for her last year.

On the same day, a charity fun day will also take place from 1pm at the Parc-y-Prior in Malpas, and includes children’s entertainment, live music and a charity waxing session.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event over the weekend, and all proceeds will go to Asthma UK.
