HUNDREDS of Newport County fans fulfilled a lifelong dream by taking to the field at Rodney Parade as part of a family fun day.

Rewarding fans for their continued support throughout the season, the club gave Newport youngsters the chance to play on the pitch, meet the players and high five club mascot, Spytty the Dog.

After the city’s budding talents had a kickabout, club legends Michael Flynn, Byron Anthony and Nathan Blake were among those who togged out for a sponsors v Newport County AFC legends match.

James Watts, commercial manager at Newport County, said around 700 fans passed through the turnstiles over the course of the day.

He said: “It’s just to get the community involved really. To wear the Newport County kit at Rodney Parade is a nice thing for people.”

Outside the ground, Energize Radio hosted the We Fight Any Claim marquee with live entertainment on site.

There were inflatable castles, go-karts, a rodeo bull and an assault course on offer in a fun-filled day out for all ages.

The event was run by the junior academy, County in the Community and Newport County AFC DSA along with support from Energize Radio.
