South Wales Ambulance Service have confirmed that five people were involved in the crash.
A spokesman said these include three adults and two children.
UPDATE: 9.40am
South Wales Fire and Rescue (SWFR) were called to the crash at 8.50am.
Two crews from Malpas and Maindee attended.
A SWFR spokesman stated that the crash involved three cars and one motorcycle.
No one was trapped and fire crews helped move the vehicles onto the hard shoulder.
The fire service are no longer at the scene.

The crash involved two cars and a motorbike.
South Wales Ambulance Service are currently at the scene and with two paramedic vehicles and one ambulance.
They confirm that people involved have "minor injuries" and that no one has been taken to hospital.

Two lanes have been closed on the M4 Eastbound following a three-vehicle-crash.
The accident is affecting traffic between J25 and J24 at the Coldra.
Traffic is moving very slowly between the two junctions.
