A NEWPORT mum says she could not be more proud of her six-year-old daughter who chose to have her hair cut for the first in her life in order to donate it to “little princesses who don’t have any”.

Aimee Landy-Redding, 34, of Maesglas, said her daughter Emily told her she wanted to give some of her to The Little Princess Fund. The schoolgirl told her mum: "Little princesses that have no hair can have hair like mine".

Emily had 12 inches cut off last week at the Wicked Children’s Hair Studio, in Cyril Street, Newport.

Her mum said she was still in shock.

“This was the first time she has asked for her hair cut so it was a bit of a surprise," Mrs Landy-Redding said.

“Another girl in school had her hair donated to the same trust a while ago, so I think the idea came into Emily’s head then.

“She thought it would be a good idea and said not many princesses would have the same colour as her Auburn locks.”

Emily, who goes to Maesglas Primary School, also recently won a citizenship award at the school for her kindness towards teachers and other pupils.

Her mum added: “She’s such a little darling, she exudes such happiness and concern for others."

“I’m so proud of her.”
