NEWPORT’S Celtic Manor has ranked among the top 100 hotels in the UK, in a poll complied by the nation’s leading hoteliers.

The inaugural Hoteliers’ Hotels Top 100 puts the five star resort in 65th place and features alongside five other Welsh hotels including Ynyshir Hall, Llandudno’s Bodysgallen Hall, The Harbourmaster, The Grove in Narberth and Brecon’s Llangoed Hall

Ken Skates, the cabinet secretary for the economy and infrastructure, said: “The fact that this is an independent award, voted for by the UK’s leading hoteliers and verified by leading hotel experts and journalists emphasises the quality of the hotel product in Wales. It is an honour for these hoteliers to be recognised by their peers.

“I am also pleased to see that the Welsh Government has helped support the hotels listed through capital investment programmes and that they have gained an increased profile from journalist visits arranged to the businesses. This listing is a real reward for the hard work and dedication of the owners and their staff.”

Justin Baird Murray, Chairman of the British Hospitality Association Cymru, which represents hotels and restaurants in Wales, said: “I warmly congratulate our members and colleagues who have made the list.

“This is a welcome recognition of the efforts of top hoteliers to reinvest in and refresh high quality offers in order to remain at the top of the tree in a very competitive UK sector.

“It is a representation of the great strength in depth of the hotel and hospitality industry in Wales and of the benefits of sound private investment coupled with effective Welsh Government support.”
