SCENE: Police outside the Matalan store on Queen Street in Cardiff on Wednesday
A NEWPORT man appeared in court today accused of the double murder of a couple as they left work in Cardiff.
Andrew Patrick Saunders, 20, is charged with the murder of Zoe Morgan, 21 and Lee Simmons, 33.
Window dresser Zoe and shop assistant Lee were killed early on Wednesday as they left the Matalan store in Cardiff city centre.

Saunders appeared before Cardiff magistrates court. He spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and gave his address as "no fixed abode".
Saunders, wearing a dark grey polo shirt and jeans, heard he would next appear at Cardiff Crown Court on October 3.
