Award-winning Newport brewery, Tiny Rebel, have had their plans for a new brewery and community space approved by Newport City Council.

The brewery and venue, on the Wern Industrial Estate in Newport, includes a fully-operational bar and kitchen and will be split level with a total capacity of around 150. Tiny Rebel plan to use and hire the space for functions, beer festivals, pop-ups, live music and brewery events and tours.

Although it will not have the regular opening hours of the Tiny Rebel bars in Newport and Cardiff, there are plans for regular brewery open days.

Brad Cummings, co-founder, welcomed the move saying: “The entire Tiny Rebel team have put their heart and soul into this project for the past 24 months, so it is brilliant to have the council, and the Welsh Government on board.

“This £2.6m relocation and expansion allows us to create the additional capacity we need as well as creating a vibrant new event space for the city.

“It is a tremendous boost to Newport’s growing foodie-scene and we look forward to growing the Tiny Rebel family as we consider the recruitment needs for our new home.”

Co-founder Gazz Williams added: “Tiny Rebel Brewery started life in a garage, born out of our passion for flavoursome, drinkable beers. Four years later, the business is making progress we could not have imagined.

“As well as opening two bar in Cardiff and Newport, we have has released an ever-growing list of limited edition beers alongside our ever-popular core range.

Along with expanded production and storage that will increase capacity more than five-fold to five million litres annually.

As well as support from their local council, the brewery has received funding from the Welsh Government with via grant from Rural Development Programme.

In the summer, Tiny Rebel announced a partnership with the Newport Food Festival which has been renamed the Tiny Rebel Newport Food and Drink Festival in recognition of its new sponsor.
