NEWPORT City Dogs Home cares for more than 500 dogs a year, and if they are not claimed by their owners, the dogs are offered for adoption.

The Argus has teamed up with the dogs home and will be regularly featuring a ‘Dog of the Week’ to help them find homes.

Our super star Dog of the Week is Jazz.

"We are starting to feel an autumn chill in the air at Newport City Dogs Home, and our Dog of the Week, Jazz, is desperate for a sofa and a fireside to help keep her old bones warm and comfortable as winter starts to set in.

"Jazz is a fuzzy-faced terrier gentlewoman. We don't exactly how old Jazz is, and we couldn't possibly ask her, that would be just rude! Clearly, Jazz is no puppy, there is a lifetime of wisdom behind those soft eyes..

"Jazz has been introduced to some of the other residents at the home, but she is a confirmed spinster - Jazz would prefer to live in a home as an only pet.  "Jazz would make the most perfect companion. She deserves to spend her silver years being loved by someone special, and will repay that love with devotion and tiny pink-tongued kisses!"

For more information, or if you'd like to meet Jazz, please contact Newport City Dogs Home tel 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm or 2pm - 4pm, or pop in for a visit. No appointment needed.
