AN 80-YEAR-OLD Caerphilly man is aiming to ride 80 miles for the British Tinnitus Association.

David Davies, of Blackwood, has been a cycling fan for his entire life, and will ride through Usk and round Raglan four or five times to complete the 80 miles on Sunday.

His granddaughter, Laurie Klimowich, said Mr Davies has previously suffered with tinnitus before and he is aiming to raise as much as he can for the charity.

The 25-year-old said: “He’s always been into cycling and he has done it from a young age. He has had the all-clear from prostate cancer over the past couple of years and I think he wanted to set himself a challenge.

“He decided a few months ago he was going to do it and he has been training a lot.”

Ms Klimowich said the fundraising was partly down to her auntie who has set up an online justgiving page for Mr Davies.

She said: “He constantly suffered with tinnitus for a number of years and it was my auntie who told him about raising money for tinnitus and set up a just giving page.

“I’m so proud of him; it’s an amazing thing to do.”

Mr Davies will tackle the 80 mile ride this weekend.
