Woke up today at 9.30 in Alcanadre about 20 miles south of Logrono.

Breakfast was served at 8 so we missed that! That wouldn't be so bad if we had eaten the night before but there was no food at the "only bar" in town.

Strangely it wasn't the only bar in town but that's what the barman told us.

He also told us that he had no food and gave us some crisps but then served up salad and bread to his mates. We were kicked out at 11 and then found there were 2 other bars after all and didn't turn in till 2.30 - hence the oversleep.

The best way to cure a hangover is to get back on the bike and mix it with the trucks on the main road towards Zaragoza. The slipsteam of these juggernauts dragged us rapidly to a lunch stop in Tudela - our first proper food for 24 hours!

The aches and pains are starting to set in now but in the afternoon we tapped out another 25 miles through spaghetti western scenery and searing heat to reach Tauste just north of Zaragoza.

No gear failure today though my chain is beginning to stick. Tomorrow we will have to decide which route to take for Barcelona
