PATIENTS in Wales should not be charged for help completing medical forms, Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood has said.
The Rhondda AM has called for the Welsh Government to scrap such charges, which she said most often hit disabled people who have trouble completing forms themselves.
“It’s not how we should be doing things in Wales,” she said. “We should be helping people to better their situation.”
But she added doctors were not at fault, saying it is the system which must change.
“The priority should be to make sure that the cost for filling in the form, seeing as it is so high, doesn’t fall on the person with disabilities,” she said.
“This sort of discrimination should not exist.”
