GWENT Police will be stepping-up patrols of two hot-spots for anti-social behaviour in Blaenau Gwent over the weekend.

Following recent reports of anti-social behaviour in the Tredegar and Brynmawr areas, there will be 48-hour dispersal orders covering both towns.

In Tredegar the order will cover: Commercial Street, Castle Street, Queen Victoria Street, Mount Street, Gelli Road, Upper Coronation Street and Tredegar Shopping Centre.

The order will start at 6pm today, Friday 13th January, and be in place for 48 hours.

In Brynmawr the order will cover: Lakeside Retail Park, Lakeside Close, Lakeside Way and "Black Path", Nantyglo and Brynmawr.

The order will start at 5pm today, Friday 13th January, and be in place for 48 hours.

Officers will be patrolling the area and will have the authority to direct anyone behaving anti-socially away from the area. If they return to that area after being moved on, they face being arrested.

Local Inspector Sarah Greening said the dispersal orders had been put in place following reports of anti-social behaviour in the areas where the actions of a small minority are "causing alarm and distress to local residents".

She added: "Officers will be on regular patrol in the areas affected to enforce the Dispersal Order and to prevent incidents of anti-social behaviour."

Any anti-social activity can be reported on 101 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
