A SPATE of robberies in the past three weeks has prompted Gwent Police to issue a warning to residents living in Blaenau Gwent.
Officers are reminding residents to be vigilant and ensure their homes are kept locked and secure, especially overnight, following a number of break ins in the area.
Over the last week three homes have been targeted on Chapel Road in Blaina, and Hatter Street and Clydach Street in Brynmawr.
DC Gareth Jenkins said: "Unfortunately we are continuing to receive calls from local residents reporting that their properties have been entered, more often than not overnight.
"In the majority of cases windows or doors had been left insecure, so these incidents could have easily been prevented.
"I'm urging Blaenau Gwent residents to ensure that all doors and windows are kept locked and secure at all times, and that items such as keys, handbags, wallets and phones are kept out of sight.
"Officers are investigating these break ins and proactively targeting the areas affected. In the meantime, please remain vigilant and take all the precautions you can to keep you and your property safe - don't make it easy for thieves."
If you see any suspicious activity in your area please call 101, if you believe a crime is in progress please call 999.
