THOUSANDS of runners are preparing to take on the Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon, with less than a week to go until the big day.

Backed by the Argus, around 2,000 runners are expected to take part in the 13.1-mile race on Sunday, which raises money for St David’s Hospice Care.

On Friday, a special preview with everything you need to know about the fifth Newport half will be featured in the Argus – official media partners for this year’s event. And, on Monday a special supplement will include a list of every runner who completed the race, along with times and pictures from the day.

The Admiral-sponsored event will start in the city centre, and follow a scenic route along the Riverfront path up to Newport Castle, before heading out to Caerleon and back. An extra stretch has been added in front of the Riverfront to move the finish line up towards Castle Bingo in Usk Way this year, enabling spectators to get a better view of the finish line.
