RSPCA Newport Animal Centre is seeking a new home for a Rottweiler who is finding life in the kennel environment exceptionally challenging.

The three-and-a-half year old Rottweiler - named Roxy - arrived in January, but is struggling with life at the Centre. She came into RSPCA care via the charity's Inspectorate, after it was found her previous owner, due to personal circumstances, was not able to provide care for the dog.

Newport Animal Centre is working hard to support her through stressful and anxious periods within the kennel environment but staff are eager to find her the perfect new forever home, as soon as possible.

Carrie Lamb, RSPCA Newport Animal Centre manager, said: "Roxy is an amazing Rottweiler who, sadly, is finding Animal Centre life very challenging, and we are all desperate to find her an ideal forever home as soon as possible.

"She could live alongside older children, and would be well suited to an owner who can build on the basic training and socialising we've done with her at the Centre.

"Roxy does find kennel life stressful, and we've had to work closely with her to help her to cope with the kennel environment.

"She's such a gentle, loyal and friendly Rotty, who loves a jog around our paddock, and cuddles with staff at the Centre.

"We found new homes for some 380 companion animals in 2016, and hope Roxy will soon join the list for 2017. She's one of dozens of animals in our care seeking a second chance of happiness."
