POLITICIANS have visited the Tata Steel’s Llanwern site to see its state-of-the-art automotive industry technology in use.
Jessica Morden MP, Jayne Bryant AM, and John Griffiths AM saw some of the latest technology being used by the steelmaker in its Zodiac Plant and Auto Finishing Line.
It provides high-quality finished products for automotive customers including Jaguar, Land Rover, Nissan and BMW.
Ms Morden said: “The steel industry is important to so many in Newport so it was good to see the class-leading work being done on the line at Llanwern.
“I hope we will see much more investment at this site to help secure good quality jobs for our area in the future.”
Mr Griffiths said it was great to see top quality steel is being produced in Newport for the automotive car industry, including the innovative electric vehicles, and to hear the Welsh Government support is providing important assistance to Tata at Llanwern.
And Ms Bryant added: “ It was a pleasure to visit the ZODIAC centre, a world-class facility with incredible staff.
“Llanwern and its workforce have been through tough times recently, but this is a good news story.”
