A CANCER charity has secured millions in welfare payments for people affected by the disease.
Macmillan Wales has secured more than £75 million in financial support to help cancer patients cope with the financial pressures caused by their condition.
Since 2010, the charity’s Welsh advisers have worked with patients and their carers to help them access the benefits they are entitled to.
Most people diagnosed with cancer face an average monthly cost of £570.
In 2016 the charity helped people access £13.7 million worth of financial support they were entitled to.
Macmillan Wales’ nationwide network of 18 welfare benefits advisers is working to reduce financial anxiety for people with cancer by offering advice, delivering complex case work and helping people to access the support they need.
