AN ELDERLY man was injured when he was assaulted in an alleged robbery in Newport.
Police and paramedics were called at around 10am yesterday to the incident in Hillside Crescent, Rogerstone.
A spokeswoman for the police, who also sent a helicopter, said the man received a cut to the arm, while around £150 was said to have been stolen.
A 29-year-old man from Caerphilly and a 33-year-old man from Bargoed have been arrested on suspicion of robbery. Both were last night in police custody.
Harvinder Singh, owner of the nearby Post Office in Greenfield Road, said people had been left “shocked” by the incident.
