NEWPORT’S Wales & West Utilities has won its fourth consecutive gold award at the RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Health and Safety Awards.
The gas emergency and pipeline service, which serves 7.5 million people across Wales and the south west of England, achieved the gold award in the prestigious annual scheme, which has been running for 61 years.
The awards recognise commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work.
Graham Edwards, the company’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted to, once again, scoop this prestigious award for our performance in safety and our drive to continually improve safety standards during 2016.
“Safety is a top priority for us and to achieve our fourth consecutive gold demonstrates a great level of consistency which we are incredibly proud of.
“We’re always trying to find ways in which we can work to improve safety standards for customers and colleagues alike. We’re delighted that our work has been recognised by RoSPA.”
