CAERPHILLY was buzzing yesterday, with more than 100 stall holders tempting visitors' tastebuds as part of the town's food festival.

Back for its sixth year, crowds descended on the town centre to enjoy all the festival had to offer.

From a cheese market to BBQ pulled lamb and from Turkish desserts to cupcakes, the festival had something for everyone.

Ken Pugh, from Cherry Tree Wales, which sells chutneys and preserves, said they always come to events in Caerphilly.

"It is good fun and we always have brisk trade," he added.

"We find that we have a lot of loyal customers who look for us in the food festival and the Christmas fair.

"We enjoy it here, there is good entertainment and a nice atmosphere."

Gemma Faithful, from The Pudding Wagon Brownie Bar, which sells a selection of homemade puddings, said it is the first time she has a stall at the Caerphilly food festival.

She said: "It is lovely here, everyone is so friendly and helpful. We have also been lucky with the weather.

"It has been a good day."

Activities took place throughout the day, including puppet shows, cake decorating workshops, animals displays and craft workshops.

This year's edition also celebrated Visit Wales' ‘Year of Legends’ and hosted acts such as Tommy Cooper tributes, Welsh musicians, Tom Jones tributes and legendary mythical dragons.

Matthew Pillman, from Swindon, attended the festival with his wife and son.

He said: "We are here today for a birthday party and we thought we would spend some time here beforehand.

"It is the first time we come to this particular event, but we have been to the Big Cheese before. It is nice."
