A NEWPORT school officially opened its new outdoor play area yesterday.
Pupils in St Andrew’s Primary, in Milner Street, are now able to enjoy new facilities such as a fort area, climbing frames, a forest area and a mud kitchen.
Headteacher Joanne Giles said: “We believe we need to provide our students with the best opportunities.
“We now have an outdoor play area which offers interesting learning opportunities.
“We all know things need to be experienced, that you can’t learn everything from reading a book or from being taught in class.”
Sybil Gill, a Year 5 student, said the new play area is “really nice”. The 10-year-old said: “We have so many things to play with now, my favourite part is the fort because it has climbing frames and a slide.”
