AN ICONIC music venue is celebrating its history before they move to a new venue.

After 24 years and 11 months the venue will be leaving Caxton Place.

In January it was announced that the owners are selling up, and the famous Le Pub is moving to a new locatioon which will be announced soon.

On Thursday night the venue will host their last ever quiz night. In promoting the event, organisers said: "We decided to make it all about Le Pub. How many staff members from the past can you remember? Identify classic Le Pub songs from 30 second snippets. Answer questions about bands, events, beers and all other things Le Pub."

On Friday night there will be a 'Goodbye Caxton Place' party with free entry.

Then on the final night a Stars In Their Eyes celebration, a night where local bands impersonate famous acts, will be held as the venue opens for the last time at its current location.

The venue said on Facebook: "We'll be opening a new venue and details of that will be available soon. Hopefully we will only be missing from the town centre for a few weeks. And we'll be bigger, better and more central."

A previous Facebook statement adds that a co-operative is being set up to secure the music venue's future, and to “begin chapter two”.

It adds: ”Le Pub is an ethos, a mindset, something that doesn't rely on a building to exist.

“We love our current location and the news it was to be sold was heartbreaking but we've had time to process it and we realised that we can take what we have and grow.”

Plans are outlined for developing a bigger space with more room for creative projects, a gallery, rehearsal rooms, office space and a small cinema space.
