THIS summer has a huge list of sporting activities in Newport and Cwmbran for the family.

You may be thinking of what to do during the six-week holidays, well here's a list of fun-filled sporting events.

Newport Live has many super events for you:

The Big Splash Festival will be putting on street theatre performances across the city centre.

It is a free event and will be coming to Newport City Centre for two days, starting on Saturday, 22 July.

Sport in the Park will also be returning. Volunteers and coaches will be putting on sports, activities and games for you. Some of sporting events will be in football, rugby, netball, squash, cycle tots, rounders, tennis, athletics and golf.

All ages are welcome. Adults can go for free but it will cost £3 per child or £5 for two children. Once the entry fee has been paid all event activities will be free.

The sessions will be taking place at three venues, including Newport International Sports Village on August, 3 from 11am to 4pm, Rogerstone Welfare Ground on August, 10 from 11am to 4pm and Beechwood Park on August 17.

Tots Fun Day is for under five-year-olds and offers an array of activities from dance to rugby and music to tennis.

The event will take place at Newport Centre on Thursday, August 24 from 11am to 3pm.

Scuba Driving Tasters will offer people an unforgettable underwater experience and you will learn a range of skills.

The event will take place at Active Living Centre on Friday, July 28 July from 10.30am to 11.15am, 11.15am to 12 noon and 12 noon to 12.45.

The age range is 10 to 16-year-olds and will cost £5 per person.

Newport Live leisure centres will also be offering free swimming sessions for anyone under 17 or over 60.

Newport YMCA

Youth Summer Festival is the place to be for youngsters this summer. The annual festival - which has been organised by Urban Circle Productions with help from Newport YMCA and the National Trust - will be hosting live music concerts and sporting activities.

The event will take place at Tredegar House on Saturday, July 29 from 12 noon to 7pm.

Summer Programme will be heading to the Newport YMCA this month. If you're aged between eight to 18 then this is a must-do. The programme will put on lots of activities and trips for youngsters.

It begins on the last week of July and finishes towards the end of August.

The Family Fun Day will be hitting the city this summer and has an impressive list of activities for the whole family to enjoy, from live music to facepainting.

The fun day will be held at Newport YMCA on Friday, August 25 from 12 noon to 4pm.

Cwmbran Stadium

Holiday Camp is the ultimate summer experience for children during August. The camp will be hosting sporting activities, including climbing, football and swimming.

The camp sessions will be held at Cwmbran Stadium on Tuesday, August 3, Tuesday 15 and Thursday 17.

Go Play is a soft play area for children.

It is at Cwmbran Stadium and open on weekdays from 9am to 9pm and the cost is £4.25 per child.

Go Vertical is a fun outdoors adventure for people of all climbing abilities.

Free Swimming for Children will be introduced at Cwmbran Stadium throughout the entire summer holiday. All that is needed is for a child to have a swimming card which can be obtained from the centre.
