FORMER steelworkers from Gwent who worked at the East Moors plant in Cardiff in the mid-1970s are being asked to help describe the conditions there.
The family of Cardiff man Terry Aherne - who worked at the site as a general labourer in 1975-76, and who died of asbestos-related cancer mesothelioma aged 64 in 2013 - are seeking evidence of working conditions there at the time, and are keen to hear from his former workmates.
Mr Aherne's family believe he worked at first in the sinter plant, the from early 1976 in the power plant and on the blast furnaces, although as a general labourer he may have been required to work all over the steelworks.
Anyone who knew Mr Aherne at the time is asked to contact Lucy Strong at solicitors Hugh James, on 029 2022 4871 by August 13.
