THIS Saturday, the Bedwellty Agricultural Show, returns to Llancaiach Fawr Manor to celebrate its 140th show.

This year’s show will include animal competitions featuring classes for cattle, sheep, pigs, horses along with show jumping competitions.

The show will start at 9am and among the livestock entries are several local exhibitors who were champions at the recent Royal Welsh Show.

Organisers have said that the Shire horses are going to be an “unmissable attraction” in the horse ring.

There will be a strong horticulture section plus poultry, craft displays and trade stands.

The countryside ring will feature displays of falconry and fly fishing and there will be sheep shearing and farrier demonstrations taking place.

Show chairman Glyn Davies said: “These are exciting but also challenging times for the show. I hope that the perfect setting of Llancaiach Manor, the quality exhibits and the many attractions will provide the perfect day out for all the family. The show committee extends a very warm welcome to everyone.”

Admission prices are £7 per adult and for concessions or children under 16 the price is £5 per ticket.

A family ticket for two adults and three children costs £20 and parking is free in the manor car park.

Last year’s show brought in thousands of visitors and one of the most popular attractions in the ring were the Monmouthshire and Valley Beagles.

It was also the first time the show was held at Llancaiach Fawr Manor in its history.

Previously the show was held at the showground in Blackwood before the move to Llancaiach Fawr Manor.
