A NEW charity shop which helps vulnerable women has opened its doors in Pontypool.
Women in Need, situated in Windsor Road, in the Griffithstown area of Pontypool, sells clothes, toys, shoes and bags, amongst others.
Paula Pettit, director of Women in Need, said: “We work with vulnerable women in the community and their families.
“We help anyone who has a need – from domestic violence to human trafficking, for example.”
She said the charity, which has been going on for 13 years, also does outreach work in Gambia, with their next aim being going into prisons in the country.
“The aim of the shop is to make the organisation sustainable,” she continued. “We will also run a food co-operative from the store.”
Support staff Rachel Jones said that their doors are open to anyone who needs help.
“If anyone needs help, they can come here,” she said. “We have an office in the back we can use.”
Any donations are welcome. Anyone interested in volunteering in the shop, please contact Ms Pettit on 07725 947715.
